Discovery to Land Today at 1:39 PM

The Discovery space shuttle is set for a Saturday 1:39 PM landing at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida with second opportunity is available for a 3:14 p.m. touchdown should it need 'a once around.' Weather conditions are forecast to be acceptable for landing at the cape. Discovery should fire its engines at 12:33 PM to begin the descent to Florida.

The seven space shuttle astronauts are concluding a 13-day mission that was highlighted by the successful installation and unfurling of the space station's last pair of solar wings. The $300 million addition brought the orbiting outpost up to full power. It's an essential part of NASA's plan to double the space station population by late spring and boost the amount of science work.

The space station, meanwhile, is getting more guests Saturday with the arrival of a Russian Soyuz TMA-14 capsule. There are 13 more crew exchange, construction, and re-supply missions planned to the ISS in 2009 including four space shuttles and three Soyuz capsules.
