Kepler Set for Nighttime Spectacular Launch

LAUNCH BLOG --- NASA is planning a nighttime spectacular with the launch of the Delta 2 rocket from Launch Complex 17-B at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station at 10:49 p.m. The Delta 2 booster will be carrying a robotic explorer named Kepler . The Kepler mission will search for Earth-like planets in solar systems outside our solar system in the weeks, months and years ahead.

Weather conditions for launch are said to be near perfect enabling a lengthly view of the Delta 2 during the boost phase to orbit. See the Kepler Mission Web Page and watch thye launch tonight on NASA-TV webcast. Here is a YouTube view of a day launch Delta 2.
