China Insists Intention in Space Peaceful
The Chinese Foreign Ministry insisted Thursday that the nation's policy with regard to opposition to space weapons had not changed despite remarks from a top People's Liberation Army (PLA) air force general made this week.
"China has always advocated the peaceful use of outer space, and opposed the weaponisation of outer space and arms races there," foreign ministry spokesman Ma Zhaoxu said on Thursday. "China has not, and will never, participate in any kind of arms race in outer space... We have not changed our stance," as reported by Associated Press.
