Canned Heat: Christmas Blues

Canned Heat from Future Blues (1970) is a music salute to the season and the era of human lunar landings. It is interesting to study how music has been influenced by space exploration over the years. On New Years-eve, a list of music videos are being complied to placed on the Spaceports site for your viewing entertainment with each having either a contemporary or retro space theme.

If you're interested in this kind of thing, you'll want to check out Alan "Blind Owl" Wilson's song "Poor Moon", recorded as a Canned Heat single and released in July 1969. It was a protest song of sorts, as Wilson was very upset by the moon landing. This album cover is part of the same theme and was boycotted by some record store chains. Wilson was an avid environmentalist.

Thank you for the kind reference. I have been curious as to how music of the post-1968 lunar era was (and has been) influenced by human space flight. This is a very interesting example. I am posting a number of album covers Dec. 31st in which humans in space have been a theme.

It is equally interesting of how Alan "Blind Own" Wilson was looking into the future. It makes me wonder what the music will be of the period when there will be more significant concern relating to the "Poor Moon" and soon-to-be future development into a two-world system.
